![]() The influences of western painting styles was only getting stronger influence in porcelain painting in the 20th century, during and after the second quarter of the 20th century. Yours apparently was made using (1) chemical pigments (Kangxi items were made with mineral pigments), (2) uses a certain color not used during most of the 19th century, and (3) uses realistic painting styles reminescent of western painting. ![]() The PBS item looks authentic Kangxi era, at leaste judging from the part that is visible. Please be aware that the same black background and similar white plum flowers does not make yours and the PBS item the same in value. If Ms Gordon really did indeed classify this as 19th century, Chinese, then she is off my list of potential authors whose books I might buy. This sort of classification has little practical use.Īnd, you are sure they (your aunt and Elinor Gordon) did not talk of another item? This is just a color classification method used by Europeans, categorising Chinese porcelain of all ages according to their predominant color. That both items are "Famille Noir" does not mean they both have the same history or value. Your bowl is very far from that, both in view to painting style and colors used. Nobody knows it all.įirst the item shown at the PBS link: that would be a Kangxi vase. Experts go wrong too, and sometimes they need to consult with fellow dealers, etc. We always recommend to ask two or even more sources for their views. ![]() We here never give appraisals - only our own opinions. You can give an opinion, but appraisals are a different matter, usually more formal, detailed views are given. I never would think it possible to give a reliable opinion, even less a formal appraisal based on a single picture. Please rest assured I am convinced my bowl probably has very little value, other than sentimental-plus I really love it and it looks great on display. I was only posting the link in case anyone else was interested. I am also well aware as I mentioned that my bowl is nothing like the PBS bowl, other than it's considered famille noire. Plus I think it's neat to have a handwritten letter from this woman who obviously was well respected in her field. My point was, after finding out who Elinor was, I was pleasantly surprised that she even took the time to respond to my aunt's letter, in particular since my aunt didn't offer her any money for her trouble. I should not have even mentioned the word 'appraisal.' (And, no, my aunt did not send Elinor a photo of the marks-just one shot of the bowl.) My aunt was just asking her if she could tell her more about the bowl and it's possible value (i.e., her opinion). I'll post this just in case anyone is interested: Comments for Help Identifying Fish Bowl-More ResearchĪs I stated, I certainly do not consider Elinor's note to my aunt as a reliable estimate of the value or age of the bowl, since she had received only one photo from my aunt. Now, I am certainly hesitant to feel an appraisal based just on one photo is conclusive however, it really is exciting to know I have this handwritten letter from Elinor Gordon.ĭuring my web search, I also found a video from an old 'Antiques Roadshow' which appraised an object with a somewhat similar appearance (although obviously much older than what I have). (Signed Elinor Gordon and mailed from Cape Cod.) The replacement evaluation is about $3-4000. The appearance of thickly applied paint makes me feel it is not an earlier version of the design. I believe the piece to be used as a fish bowl and dates to the mid 19th century. It is hard paste porcelain made in China and decorated in the background known as famille noire. "The picture which you sent to me can be properly identified. Gordon was considered quite an expert at one time: Here is the handwritten reply my aunt received from Ms. Turns out, she had written to Elinor Gordon, a Chinese Export Porcelain specialist she had found through an ad in 'Art & Antiques' magazine. ![]() After digging through some old correspondence today, I finally found the letter she had sent and the response she received. I thought she had given me the response, but had no idea where it was. Since posting about my fish bowl, I've continued additional research with some interesting findings.įirst, I remembered my aunt (who gave me the fish bowl) told me that some time ago, she had written to someone and sent a photo to get an appraisal. ![]() If you're in-game, you can start it up by either accessing the Social tab in the Pause menu, or by going into the Network and Social tab in your Options menu. The money laundering risk associated with eWallets and mobile money derives from the relative anonymity offered by online financial services and other aspects of the technology, including the speed with which transactions can take place and a lack of regulation from national and international authorities. To ensure that those measures are effective, service providers should understand both the risks that they face and how to comply with the relevant legislation within their jurisdiction. Those risks mean that eWallet service providers must put AML/CFT measures in place to respond to potential criminal threats. While developers can implement a range of security measures to protect users from cyber-criminals, eWallets remain at risk thanks to certain traits inherent in the technology. ![]() The use of eWallets, mobile money and online financial services has led to the development of criminal methodologies that exploit those services to launder money and finance terrorist activities. Moreover, older Americans were consistent in how they viewed the past compared with how they actually answered at that time (during the first survey). Older adults, on the other hand, were more realistic and gave accurate predictions about how satisfied they would be. ![]() When comparing both sets of questionnaires, Lachman and colleagues discovered that younger and middle-aged adults showed great illusion (that is, they had major differences in their ratings): Both groups believed life would be better than it turned out to be. Americans younger than 65 viewed the present as more satisfying than the past and were more optimistic about the future than their older counterparts, believing they would be more satisfied with life in ten years. Older Americans (65 and older) viewed the past and the present as being equally satisfying, but believed that the future would be less satisfying than the present. The results suggest that there are age-related differences in how we view the past and the future. With both sets of questionnaires in hand, Lachman and her colleagues were able to compare how subjects felt during the second survey with how they had predicted they would feel at that time. The experiment enabled the researchers to measure how closely the actual life satisfaction ratings matched the perceived ratings (those from the past or 10 years into the future). ![]() In 2004, the participants were asked those same questions. They were asked to rate how currently satisfied they were with their lives, how satisfied they were with their lives 10 years earlier and how satisfied they expected to be 10 years later. In the first survey, participants (between the ages of 24-74) completed a telephone interview and questionnaire. To test this idea, the researchers conducted two surveys, the first in 1995-1996, and the second nine years later, between 20. Whether a person is naturally a pessimist or an optimist, the study suggests there are other factors at work in determining the way people consider how satisfying their future lives may be.īrandeis University psychologist Margie Lachman along with Christina Röcke, University of Zurich, Christopher Rosnick, Southern Illinois University, and Carol Ryff, University of Wisconsin, wanted to see if there were differences in actual and perceived ratings of how satisfied Americans were with their lives over a nine-year period. It’s a heightened version of what she felt before her namesake brand’s original debut: “It’s so insane. Since swimwear is so close to her heart, it’s no surprised Coelho is touched and excited to see her loyal fans donning her chic suits. “I really wanted my collection to have was pieces that you can wear not just at the beach, but that you can take on your everyday.” “My biggest inspiration was this woman that I pictured, and the woman that I like to be during the summer as well, who is always on the go traveling, and I wear my swim in different occasions,” she explains. While there are certainly some notably on-trend silhouettes and details-high-cut sides, crochet fabrics and lace-up accents, to name a few-Coelho says her own personal summer aesthetic served as the guiding force in shaping the designs. When asked to describe the line’s ideal customer, she offers, “A woman who is very chic, but loves to feel sexy.” ![]() One thing we know for sure? For this reason, myself and others aren’t hesitating to snatch up Coelho’s stylish designs. Of course, the time will come when we can finally indulge in our pre-planned summer activities, hitting the beach in a cute suit being one of them. “I’m keeping my mind positive, and I really believe that we’ll still be able to create a lot of beautiful summer memories with loved ones,” she insists. You know, it was me at home creating so much content, video content, photo content for the blog,” she says. “It’s so crazy, because I feel like I’m back to my original routine when I started on social media. We had to change our plans a little bit, but we had such positive feedback launching it,” she says. “Unfortunately, it’s in a time that no one is leaving the house, we’re in quarantine. Has the current quarantine slowed her excitement? Coelho acknowledges that the timing is less than ideal, but even a cancelled launch event couldn’t stop what she knew would be a massively successful launch. And I am much more experienced as well, with every little detail of it,” she says. “So when we started the brand, I decided to start with ready-to-wear and then create swim.” Of course, this gave her plenty of time to hone her design skills, too: “Today I’m much more mature, I’m much more confident with pieces I create. “Swim has such a special place in my heart because growing up in Brazil-as a Brazilian, as a Latina- basically living by the beach and always in swimwear,” she tells STYLECASTER. When Coelho first launched her brand with Revolve, swim was not a category she pursued, but she’s been waiting quite some time to get her feet wet-literally. Part of the reason for this urge, of course, has to do with the all-new Camila Coelho Collection swimwear drop, a Revolve-exclusive range filled with Instagram-ready bikinis, one-piece swimsuits and sarongs. However in truth I was using this weapon much in the same way as I would have used a secondary in Destiny 1 only swapping to it at certain times. What finally ended up feeling good and seeming usable is to run a Submachine Gun in my primary slot, namely The Showrunner seen above. The problem with the Destiny 2 weapon loadouts is that on my preferred class… the Titan there was nothing that I could really replicate this feel with so I in part had to feel out what worked for me in the new scheme. If I have an exotic slot available I go with Gjallarhorn and if not probably my Silvered Dread machine gun. The heavy slot varies greatly because in truth… I am not really expecting to get heavy ammo in Crucible matches so I am not super concerned. From there I generally have either a Shotgun in the secondary slot Invective or Party Crasher +1 or I go for one of my Fusion Rifles… traditionally Saladin’s Vigil. Traditionally my crucible build has been an Auto Rifle in the primary slot… usually my extreme stability Haakon’s Hatchet or if I am feeling squirrely… my Genesis Chain. Some of my initial comments about not really liking the 4 vs 4 format and the small map sizes, is in part me likely just getting adjusted to changes and not really having a weapon load-out that I would have preferred. Since writing my initial post I have done the strike several times and spend a bit more time in the Crucible. That said for whatever reason I keep returning and playing. A few days ago I said I had more or less “beat” the Destiny 2 beta in part because there is so little to actually do in it. ![]() The Go! company started its businness with calendars, other goods were added later, many of Go Calendar! stores is located in shopping malls and outlet centers, some of them are standalone stores, others just in form of kiosk.Go!
